Kayaking at Lake Abanakee was certainly fun, but there times when a girl's got to shop! With beautiful sunny weather and the day off of work, Megan and I decided to visit downtown Saratoga Springs, NY. Recently, Megan started up a wellness program at the battlefield and she let it go to her head; we walked from the house all the way to downtown ... granted, I wasn't the one doing the walking!
Luckily Megan has elastic cords on her backpack to help keep me in place - it worked just like a seat belt!
The first stop on the way to downtown was the post office - Megan is now at that place in life where she has to pay bills every month ... what fun!
I needed a little boost putting the mail in the slot, but the important thing to take away from this experience is that I did NOT get trapped inside the mailbox - that would have been one traumatic experience!
Next stop, Eddie Bauer. Megan's mom bought her a pair of kayaking pants for her birthday, but they were a little big and needed to be returned. We searched all over the store and finally found the pants, of course, they didn't have Megan's size! Being the genius that I am, I kindly suggested Megan exchange the pants for something else she might like - she found 2 tank tops and the store owed her a penny, talk about good shopping!
The elastic cords started to get uncomfortable so I opted to ride along with the newly purchased tank tops.
All the bargain hunting made me hungry so Megan took me out to a nice little place called Spring Street Deli, their quesadillas were to die for!
Don't judge ... I was really hungry!
Perhaps my favorite stop of the day was Congress Park - here we saw mother nature at it's finest! Ducks were waddling, kids were laughing, and the sun was a-shining! I was certainly tempted to feed the ducks: 1) it's not allowed, 2) the ducks were bigger than me and could probably eat me if they wanted!
Before we ended our adventure, Megan insisted I behave like a true tourist and taste the spring water. I was under the impression this would taste like normal water ... like Poland Spring or something. Boy was I wrong, and boy was I mad at Megan for making me taste the foul, sulfuric water - I guess some times you learn things the hard way!
I should have known based on the smell that the water would taste funny, but as you can see Megan REALLY wanted me to taste it!
The mood was definitely tense leaving the spring, so Megan bought me some Coldstone ice cream - what can I say, food is the way to a ranger's heart!
Birthday Cake Remix is never a bad choice!
I was glad to be able to spend the day with Megan and to be able to see the historic and scenic downtown Saratoga Springs - there never seems to be a dull day in the life of a ranger!

LOVE! I am introducing Jackson to Ranger Sue, so keep the adventures coming!
